Forrest (fka Boris) is an adorable 2-year old male (possible) Retriever/Husky mix who was brought to the HSOV on July 18, 2025 along with his companion Bubba (fka BoBo). These boys were placed in an outside kennel near the front of our shelter after hours that evening. Unfortunately the individual(s) who left them did not provide any information about Forrest or Bubba, so it is unknown if they are strays or if it was their owner who abandoned them. Neither of the dogs were wearing a collar, and they were not microchipped. Forrest has a beautiful milk chocolate brown short smooth coat with a patch of white on his chest, white toes on his paws, a long tail, and a cute puppy-like face with pale brown eyes, a liver-colored nose, and large floppy ears. This little sweetheart was very shy when he first entered our shelter but within a few days his happy, rather demure, personality emerged. Forrest is fairly small boy who weighs 30 lbs, so many of his pictures make him appear larger than he really is. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Forrest was held for three days so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Sadly, nobody called or came looking for Forrest or Bubba. These boys are now available for foster or foster-to-adopt with an approved HSOV Foster/Adoption Application. We've learned that Forrest is an accomplished escape artist and likely has separation anxiety. This little boy is looking for an experienced handler and a compassionate individual/family who will have the patience and understanding to let him acclimate to his new home (and to gain his trust). Forrest was neutered on October 27, 2025 and was also given rabies vaccine.
