About Jack
Jack is a gentle, senior schnauzer mix weighing around 24 pounds and has a sweet, subtle charm to him. After being found as a stray and making it out of a Florida shelter, he's shown a quiet resilience in foster homes. Jack is neutered, up to date on his shots, housebroken, and both leash and crate trained. He does need eye drops for 'dry eye' but otherwise has no special medical or dietary requirements. Handling is Jack's greatest challenge: he isn’t comfortable being picked up or physically managed—especially by vets or groomers—so he’s been prescribed tranquilizers to help him feel less stressed in those situations. His foster families, both experienced with dogs like him, have seen gradual improvement with patience and care. Jack gets along well with other similar-sized, friendly dogs and has shown a particular fondness for gentle companions. He needs an adopter who is patient, understanding, and willing to work with him for at least six months to build trust. Out-of-state adoption and video chats can be arranged for the right home. Give Jack the patient home and quiet reassurance he deserves. This could be the start of something paw-some.

Questions about Jack
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Jack, as a Miniature Schnauzer, does well in a range of environments, including apartments and single-family homes, as long as he gets attention and moderate exercise. A calm, quiet home will help him feel safe and allow him to settle in comfortably.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Miniature Schnauzers like Jack aren't demanding about outdoor space; a securely fenced yard or regular leashed walks are enough. He'll be content with brisk walks and a safe place to explore.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Miniature Schnauzers generally get along with respectful older children, but due to Jack's discomfort with handling, a home with patient adults or older teens may be best.
