She’s affectionate, smart, and has a playful spirit. Living in Newark, NJ, she’s a wonderful blend of energy and cuddles, ready to bring joy to a committed family.

Candy is a delightful 6-month-old puppy weighing in at 12 pounds, embodying the sweetness of her name. With a possible mix of Schnauzer and Yorkshire Terrier, her scruffy face and expressive eyes are sure to melt your heart. Rescued from abandonment, Candy has a story of resilience, thanks to a compassionate woman who couldn't bear to leave her behind. It’s hard to understand why anyone would abandon such a loving pup, but now she’s ready for a fresh start. When Candy arrived, her coat was badly matted, necessitating a full shave. As her beautiful, medium-length coat grows back, her future family will need to keep up with regular grooming to keep her looking and feeling her best. Despite being small, Candy has a big heart. She loves nothing more than to snuggle on the couch or play with her favorite toys. Her playful puppy energy blends perfectly with a desire for affection. While she still needs some potty training and basic commands, Candy is smart and eager to learn, making her a great match for a family willing to invest time and love. She has received all age-appropriate vaccines, deworming, and a full veterinary exam. Although she hasn’t been spayed yet, her surgery is scheduled through ROOT Rescue. Adopters can take her home even before this procedure, understanding they’ll need to return her for it.
