About Hunter
Hunter is a small, wiry Miniature Schnauzer who has had a rough ride — abandoned, then rescued, but always a bit let down by people. He arrived shut down, underweight, and unwilling to be touched, needing full sedation just for a haircut. Weeks in foster, he finally started offering cautious tail wags and allowed head scratches, at least if he’s the one who decides. Trust comes hard, but patience and the presence of other dogs have helped. With canines, Hunter transforms: he’s gentle, playful, even a flirt, totally at ease in a dog pack. Around humans, it’s different. He’s still defensive, especially with sudden contact or anything around his neck. That means no picking up, leashes are a process, and affection is slow, always on his terms. He needs an adopter who understands project dogs, ideally with another friendly dog to help him feel secure. If you’re ready to give Hunter the time, space, and acceptance he craves, you could be the start of his comeback story. Click apply to start the adoption process.
