About Ryder Ct
Ryder Ct is a 6-year-old, 40-pound Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix living in Ontario, CA. He’s sharp, intensely focused on fetch, and devoted to the people he trusts. He wants a home with someone experienced in Border Collies—he’s no starter dog and needs daily, vigorous play. Ryder doesn’t just fetch: he’ll retrieve tennis balls, frisbees, and especially his beloved squeaky football. Birds, butterflies, and anything that moves fascinate him, and he’ll happily chase them for hours. Indoors, he’s affectionate—leaning into his favorite person, giving kisses, and loving attention. However, he’s slow to warm up to strangers and requires careful, patient introductions, especially with men. House training isn’t entirely second nature to him, but he adapts quickly to routines and does well with crate time if you aren’t home. Ryder’s history using pee pads in apartments means you’ll need patience and a mistake-friendly area until he adjusts. He’s on medication for anxiety, which has helped him settle and focus on training. He would do best in a home with a fenced yard, no other pets or young kids, where someone truly enjoys giving a clever, energetic dog an hour or more of exercise every day. If you’re into competitive frisbee or flyball, even better—he’d thrive with someone who understands his quirks. He’s reactive to other dogs and does not get along with cats or small children, so a solo-pet, adult household is best. If you’re ready for high drive and have the right experience, Ryder Ct will be a fiercely loyal companion. What are you waiting for? Apply today!

Questions about Ryder Ct
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Ryder Ct, as a Border Collie and Australian Shepherd mix, thrives in homes where he has plenty of space and opportunities for exercise. A house with a securely fenced yard is ideal to match his high activity level.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Medium-sized herding breeds like Ryder Ct need ample outdoor space, preferably a large yard or direct access to open areas. A safe, fenced-in yard will allow him to burn energy and indulge in his love of fetch and chasing moving things.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
While some Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mixes can live with older children, Ryder Ct is not comfortable around kids and does best in a household without young ones. Families with older, dog-savvy teens might be considered if they understand his boundaries.
