About Vivian
Vivian came to ARC from Shelby County Animal Shelter. She is a gentle soul who loves to interact with people and hang out with her kitty roommates. She enjoys exploring her surroundings and investigating new furniture and toys! She loves to get pets and snuggle up to humans. She is still getting to know her kitty friends, but so far they seem to be doing well together. Shelby County reported that she did great with other cats and people of all ages. Vivian has been in her new room for several weeks now and she is doing very well. She seems to enjoy her kitty roommates and has the LOUDEST purr!!! She loves attention and affection! Vivian is marked as "special needs" because she is positive for the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). This does NOT impact her adoptability, as you can see she is a beautiful and loving girl! FIV is not transmitted to humans or other animals, it only affects cats. It is also, not easily transmitted to other cats, usually through a very deep bite, mating or from mom to her babies. Since, Vivian is spayed and as long as she isn't fighting with other cats, she can live with other kitties that are FIV negative (in fact is is currently living with kitties that are all negative for FIV!). She can also be an only-kitty or live with other FIV+ cats. There is a lot of information on the internet about FIV, but not all of it is accurate or up to date. To learn more, we recommend starting with the Best Friends Animal Society FIV Fact Sheet: https://bestfriends.org/pet-care-resources/fiv-cats-feline-immunodeficiency-virus-faqs Adoption fees are $80 each, includes spay/neuter, FIV/FeLV testing, core vaccines, deworming, flea prevention and microchip. If Vivian is the right kitty for you, please contact the Animal Refuge Center at 270-877-6064 or animal_refugectr@hotmail.com and we can answer any questions you have about her or FIV. Or, fill out an adoption application on our website animalrefugecenter.org.
