About Mona Lisa
Mona Lisa's story starts rough—she and her kittens were found taped inside a box, left to fate until a kind person stepped in. Only some of her kittens survived, but Mona Lisa herself pulled through and waited in a foster home until moving to the rescue’s Feline Leukemia room. These days, she has her own space with a catio and shares with a more dominant cat, Chopper. She keeps her distance from him, preferring a calm, restful corner or her favorite cat caves. When people drop by, Mona Lisa perks up and wants nothing more than a friendly hello, quickly shifting from shy to eager for attention. She’s marked as special needs due to testing positive for feline leukemia virus (FeLV). This only affects her interactions with other cats—she should go to a home as a solo cat or with easygoing cats that are also FeLV positive. Humans and other animals are not at risk. Mona Lisa must remain indoors, both for her own safety and to prevent spreading the virus to other cats. Sweet-natured and people-loving, Mona Lisa is waiting for a soft spot to land in a patient, indoor-only home as either an only pet or with other FeLV kitties. Ready to meet your new best friend?
