About Gandolph
Gandolph is a large, long-haired Great Pyrenees who’s spent the past year learning to trust people at AGPR after being surrendered from a free-range life among chickens, pigs, and other animals. Transitions were tough at first—he was too frightened to walk, but patient volunteers helped him learn to stroll on a leash. Now, Gandolph’s favorite things are walks and playing yard games with his best friend Cherry. Although he’s still skittish with new people and needs slow, gentle introductions, he’s never shown aggression. What he really needs is someone who’ll move at his pace, help him build confidence, and provide a home that’s calm and understanding. Another friendly dog—ideally Cherry—would help him settle in. Gandolph is a special-needs dog, not due to medical reasons but because he missed out on early socialization. He’ll do best with a patient, experienced adopter and always requires a securely fenced yard. He’s located in Richmond, VA, and the rescue places dogs within a four to five hour drive. Give Gandolph a chance if you’re ready to put in the time for a truly meaningful bond. Click apply to start the adoption process.
