About Churro

Churro is a lovely, 4-year-old neutered male Goldendoodle looking for a calm and loving home. He came to the Tompkins County SPCA because his previous owners could no longer care for him, and the shelter environment is quite stressful for him. Churro is affectionate with those he knows, enjoying cuddles and gentle strokes, especially on his chest. He’s smart and eager to learn, mastering commands like "sit" and "down," and loves food puzzles that keep his mind engaged. However, he can be nervous around new people, particularly men, so he'll need a patient owner who can let him adjust at his own pace. Churro enjoys walking and hiking, doing well on a leash with his Easy Walk harness. His previous family indicated he's housetrained and crate-trained. While he's had company from other dogs and cats, he tends to play rambunctiously and may not be suitable for calmer pets. He’s looking for an active home where he can thrive and receive the attention he craves. Churro is up-to-date on vaccinations and is currently on anti-anxiety medication to help him adjust.
