About Hope

Hope and her sister Faith were surrendered by a family living in a rural area. The puppies had been living outside and the family wanted them to go to a place where they had a warm bed before the winter winds began to blow. Hope is a sweet, cuddly little girl who is shy meeting new people but begs for quality lap time with people she knows. She is making good progress on house breaking being crated 8 hours at night and 3-4 hours at a time during the work day. Hope was about 10 weeks old and 14# when she had her first vet visit on October 30. We think she will be in the lower end of large breed when full grown, but since we didnโ€™t see mom or dad and we are unsure of her birthday, that is best guess. Her adopter should be prepared to love and cherish if she is a bit larger or smaller than predicted. She loves her out door time and is playful with the other puppies and dogs in her foster home. We sent DNA in for testing on sister Faith and expect the results back about November 10. For now we are guessing and suspect the pups are a mix of retriever, and cattle dog and a bunch of other stuff. She has webbed toes like a retriever and the speckled coat of a cattle dog. Nearly all of the dogs from the area have some husky, miniature American Shepherd, German Shepherd and, oddly, some Chihuahua. It is not uncommon for dogs to have 30 verified breeds in their DNA. The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog. Puppy has been vet checked, is vaccinated, and de-wormed. She will need one additional puppy vaccinations plus rabies at the adopterโ€™s expense. We do place puppies outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. Her required alter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if it is done by 6 months at the PUP clinic. We require that she be altered by 6 months. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. We are pretty slow at responding to e-mail. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested. Video link https://youtube.com/shorts/ajtp4_Ujnh0 Filename
