About Athena Jane

Meet Athena Jane! Location: Kyle, TX DOB: 7/31/2024 Athena is a sweet, affectionate girl who adores being close to her favorite humans. This playful and treat-motivated lady is happiest when she can join her people for a walk, soak up belly rubs, or curl up on the couch with her head resting on their legs. With a moderate energy level, Athena enjoys walks but is equally content to relax in the backyard or lounge inside. She's a professional snuggler and has a happy little grumble when she receives belly rubs, though she has a tendency to snore! Athena is housebroken and continues to work on her basic manners and leash skills. She is a good car passenger, though she may get a little whiny on the ride. While she can be vocal when first crated, she settles down quickly. She's still learning to feel secure when separated from her people and may try to escape when confined, so a patient home will help her build confidence and independence. Currently, Athena lives with a small female dog and is doing well with her confident canine companion. Adaptation with larger male dogs is still a work in progress, as she feels a bit nervous around them. She’s curious but non-aggressive toward the resident cat. A confident, dog-savvy cat could be a good match, and her compatibility with children is still unknown. Athena dreams of a home where she can be someone's shadow, soaking in plenty of companionship. A family that spends more time at home, provides a cozy couch, access to a yard, and lots of tasty treats would make her very happy. A confident, smaller female dog might help her build her confidence as well. Her foster family will need to be understanding, as trust takes time, and she will need support in realizing that the world can be a safe and loving place. Athena is currently heartworm positive and not yet spayed, requiring continued veterinary care and support for her medical needs. She has so much love to give, and with a little patience, plenty of affection, and a steady supply of treats, she will surely make a wonderful companion for the right family.
