About Joe
Meet Joe! Joe is an adorable Border Collie/Flat-Coated Retriever mix, who was found wandering and severely underweight in Southern Colorado. A good-hearted local person took him in and provided the veterinary care he needed to start his recovery. Now, Joe urgently needs a safe place to land as his caretaker can no longer keep him. He has the kindest eyes and a joyful spirit that shines through when he feels secure, but he also faces challenges that need an understanding and patient adopter. Joe is sensitive to body handling, so he requires gentle introductions to ensure he feels safe. He's made progress and comes with three behavior-consulting sessions to help his new person continue this work. While Joe has displayed some reactive behavior during times of stress, it's important to note that no one has been seriously injured. For this reason, he would not be suitable for homes with children. Joe currently lives well with four other dogs, showcasing that he enjoys canine companionship. As for cats, his past is unknown. We believe he would thrive best in a quieter home environment, away from the hustle and bustle that could overwhelm him. Our goal is to match Joe with someone who sees not just his challenges but the dog he can become. If you’re patient, compassionate, and experienced, you might just be the right fit for Joe. Let’s keep this Colorado boy out of the shelter and help him find the peaceful life he deserves. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.
