About Onyx smart and

Meet Onyx! Onyx is a bright 50-pound, 2-1/2-year-old Lab/Border Collie mix who has a heart as big as his intelligence. This sweet boy thrives on cuddles and affection, making him a perfect companion for someone who can offer him the attention he deserves. Due to a recent change in his family's work situation, they're looking for a loving home where Onyx can get more social interaction. He’s a loyal, Velcro dog who is deeply connected to his human, always seeking stability and engagement in his daily life. Although he's occasionally shy and shows some leash reactivity, Onyx is currently in a training program that’s helping build his confidence. He enjoys learning tricks and responds well to commands like Sit, Lay Down, Stay, and Drop. His ideal adopter will be someone active who understands the needs of intelligent, sensitive dogs and can keep him mentally engaged. Onyx prefers calmer environments; rambunctious dogs can be overwhelming for him. Ideally, he should be in a quiet, fenced suburban or rural setting. We recommend a home without children under 10, no cats, and preferably no other dogs, though he might get along with a gentle resident dog after proper introductions. With his neutering, house training, and crate training already completed, Onyx is ready to find the perfect forever home. He needs adopters who appreciate the nuances of a smart, devoted companion.
