Currently located in Jackson, MO, Howl is working on his house training and adjusting to new environments. This little guy will thrive best in a home with a confident dog to lead the way.

About Howl

Meet Howl! Some dogs enter rescue with hopes of finding a loving home, while others carry the weight of their past experiences. Howl falls into the latter category. He came to Mac's Mission after facing a difficult situation that left him wary of the world around him. Humans, in particular, can feel intimidating to Howl, and he isn’t ready to be everyone's best friend yet. The silver lining is that Howl recently completed ten weeks of training through the Puppies for Parole program. He's made significant progress, but he will need a family who can help him continue to build his confidence gradually. This little guy shows submissive urination when scared and prefers to observe new situations from a safe distance. Trust takes time for him, and he needs an adopter who understands that patience and consistency are key. A confident companion dog is essential for Howl; he truly shines when he's around other dogs. He loves his canine friends and feels comforted by following their lead. Sharing a bed or nap spot with a fellow dog brings him joy. While he isn’t aggressive about his food, Howl prefers to enjoy meals solo, though he welcomes treats alongside his doggy pals. On the playful side, Howl can be a real escape artist. He’s known for scaling baby gates when he feels adventurous. His new family should be ready for some creative escape attempts. House training is a work in progress, and while he has regular outdoor access, he occasionally opts for a potty pad. Howl doesn't need someone who expects him to turn into a social butterfly overnight. He requires a person who is willing to sit beside him, earn his trust, and demonstrate that life can be safe.
