About Pal

Professionally Qualified to Be Your Best Pal.... Looking for a best friend? Conveniently, his name is Pal. Pal is a 6-month-old Cattle Dog/Rottweiler mix who is equal parts happy, goofy, affectionate, adventurous, and very enthusiastic about life. And yes... he's a puppy. Pal originally came to us from the Tri-County Animal Shelter in Virginia. We were even able to connect with his former owners, an older couple who loved him dearly but realized they simply couldn't keep up with the energy and physical demands of raising a young, active dog. Giving him up was incredibly difficult for them, and we promised we'd do everything we could to find this very good boy the right home. Since joining Bluey's, Pal has absolutely THRIVED. He recently attended one of our adoption events and basically treated it like his own personal meet-and-greet. People? LOVE THEM. Dogs? Yep! Cats? Yep! Attention? PLEASE AND THANK YOU. Pal is: Dog friendly Cat friendly Super affectionate Playful and energetic Smart and eager to learn Ready for adventures Goofy, happy, and ridiculously lovable He was also incredibly sweet with the children he met at our event. But here's the thing about Pal... Pal has absolutely NO idea how big and strong Pal is. When he's excited, he may enthusiastically launch himself toward you for a hello. When he decides there's somewhere interesting to investigate on a walk, you will quickly remember that there is, in fact, a Rottweiler AND a Cattle Dog somewhere in that DNA. He's not trying to be naughty—he's six months old, excited about everything, and still learning that humans don't necessarily appreciate being used as landing pads. For that reason, we're looking for a home without young children simply because we don't want little ones accidentally getting knocked over. Older, sturdy, dog-savvy kids would be a great match. This has nothing to do with aggression or concerning behavior—Pal has been wonderfully sweet with kids. He's just a big puppy whose body has grown considerably faster than his manners. Pal needs a family who will continue working on leash manners, four paws on the floor, basic obedience, and all the other skills that turn a giant goofy puppy into an incredible adult dog. Because underneath all that puppy enthusiasm is a dog who is social, loving, intelligent, eager to please, and completely ready to belong to someone. Pal would be an awesome match for an active person or family looking for a dog to hike with, explore with, train with, play with, laugh at, and eventually crash on the couch with at the end of the day. We kept hoping someone would walk into the shelter and choose him. They didn't. So now that Pal is safe with Bluey's, we're hoping his person sees this instead. If you've been looking for a loyal, goofy, fun-loving adventure buddy who already comes with the perfect name... You might have just found your new best Pal.
