Meet Murphy! This goofy and affectionate two-year-old Labrador Retriever mix resides in Westminster, MA. His floppy ears and golden coat highlight his charm, but his playful energy and joyful tail wags truly define him. Murphy weighs 70 pounds and brings a silly character to life, often chatting with playful sounds as if trying to converse. He finds joy in long walks, breezy car rides, chew toys, and energetic zoomies in the yard. While his fun-loving side is evident, Murphy is intelligent and responds well to clicker training. He’s mastered commands like sit and lay down and is making progress on stay and recall through positive reinforcement. Socially, Murphy thrives with other dogs and would do well with a confident canine companion to support him. He enjoys doggie daycare, where he truly blossoms. At home, he finds comfort in a steady routine, snuggling on the couch or his bed after a day packed with play. However, Murphy has experienced some anxiety, particularly in chaotic situations. He has displayed fear-based behaviors, resulting in three past incidents of nipping, usually when feeling trapped or threatened. While he can be a bit nervous around men, he has made significant strides in training and requires a calm, experienced adopter who understands anxiety and reactivity. It’s recommended he goes to a home without children, where slow introductions will allow him to feel secure. Murphy also has dietary sensitivities, particularly with chicken, which has been eliminated from his diet to help with his skin comfort. His coat shines brightly with good care and attention.
