Weighing in around 50 pounds, he balances athletic energy with tenderhearted devotion. Spike is a definition of affectionābelieving he's a lap dog, he loves to gently climb into your lap, leaning in for belly rubs. His playful nature shines with squeaky toys, and he absolutely lights up during playtime. Whether itās chasing or swimming, heās an enthusiastic companion ready for adventures with an active guardian. When he first arrived in his current home, Spike was timid and easily startled by sudden movements, often keeping his distance. Thankfully, heās blossomed over the past year and a half. Now, he seeks affection and cuddles, although he may still bark at strangers due to lingering uncertainty. Still, he quickly looks to his humans for reassurance. Spike is crate-trained, house-trained, neutered, and microchipped. He knows basic commands and patiently waits for treats. He does well alone for short periods, relaxing comfortably in his crate. While loud noises can make him uneasy, heās come a long way, thriving with continued encouragement and a gentle approach. He has lived peacefully with female dogs and would benefit from thoughtful introductions to new friends.
