About Charlie
Charlie is a 6-year-old Anatolian Shepherd mix with all the classic traits of his breed: fiercely loyal, highly independent, and deeply protective of what he considers his own. He was found as a stray in 2021 and has a history of being adopted and returned multiple times. His longest adoption lasted nearly a year, and we are determined to find him a lasting home this time. As a working dog at heart, Charlie requires experience with livestock guardian breeds to adopt. He flourishes in an outdoor lifestyle with ample space, but does not fare well in busy areas and tends to react to large trucks and vehicles. A quiet, rural environment is essential for his comfort and safety. While he has coexisted with other dogs, Charlie has shown consistent resource guarding and is best suited as the only pet in a calm, adult-only household. Understanding his protective instincts, particularly around food, toys, or resting spots, is crucial for his new family. Charlie is a fence climber, so while a traditional fence is not mandatory, adopters must have a secure plan to keep him safe. He also dislikes storms and will benefit from having a sheltered area during inclement weather. His penchant for digging requires management or accommodations. Charlie's Ideal Home: - Rural property with minimal traffic - Large outdoor area with appropriate shelter - Adult-only household - Experience with livestock guardian breeds strongly recommended Not every home is right for Charlie, but he will be an incredibly loyal and steady companion for those who can meet his unique needs. If you're looking for a devoted partner with purpose, Charlie may be the right fit for you. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
