About Sheila

Sheila’s journey started on a cold February night when she was first seen dashing across the back parking lot with another dog. While her companion was quickly caught, Sheila lingered at a distance. The next morning, she waited nearby, exhausted and wary. It took patience and calm to coax her onto a leash, and she rode to safety snuggled in a crate to a quiet place where she could finally relax and begin to trust again. A couple of months have passed since that stressful night, and Sheila has changed in all the right ways. Now a gentle, affectionate young dog, she’s believed to be about a year old. Sheila’s shyness has faded bit by bit—she enjoys leashed walks and leans in with all her weight for comfort from the people she trusts. Give her time and she’ll reward you with lap cuddles and the kind of closeness only a once-cautious dog can offer. Around other dogs, Sheila can be uncertain and takes introductions slowly. She wasn’t eager to reunite with her former companion, but with patience and the right canine match, Sheila could thrive with another dog in the home. She welcomes new people carefully, sometimes greeting them with goofy full-body wiggles and a shy, submissive grin. Sheila is looking for a patient person who understands the slow beauty of building trust with a timid pup and will give her the safety and security to keep growing. Ready to fall in love?
