About Olive

Pug Rescue of New England (PRoNE) is a non-profit 501(c)(3), all volunteer foster home based rescue organization. Meet Olive Say hello to Olive, an adorable 14-month-old pug with a personality as charming as her signature underbite! Weighing in at about 20 lbs, this young girl is full of playful energy, curiosity, and affection, and she’s ready to find a forever home to call her own. Olive came to us when her owner was not able to care for her due to health issues. Olive is a fun-loving, toy-obsessed pup who can turn just about anything into a game—especially if it involves a ball! Fetch is her absolute favorite, and she also loves chewing on her toys, working on lick mats, and enjoying her favorite treats. When she’s not playing, you’ll often find her perched proudly on the back of the couch, keeping watch and alerting her humans to anything interesting happening outside with bark. This sweet girl adores people and thrives on attention, though she can be a little timid at first and may need time to build confidence in new situations. Once she warms up, her playful, mischievous puppy side shines through. Olive would do best with a family committed to helping her continue to grow into a confident, well-rounded dog. Olive is still learning her doggy social skills. While she’s made great progress in her foster home and enjoys snuggling with other dogs, she can get unsure during active play and may bark when she feels overwhelmed. With patience and positive experiences, she’s continuing to improve every day, but if she has a canine companion in her new home, it will need to be a calm, confident dog who will help her learn how to play and interact with other dogs. She doesn’t show much interest in cats, and due to her playful and sometimes jumpy nature, she may do best in a home with older children (12+). Training-wise, Olive is food-motivated and already knows the one command all pugs master, sit for a treat! She rides well in the car and is crate trained. She remained in her crate overnight in her first home with no issues and she has been sleeping in the crate in her foster home. She has excellent potty skills, and a consistent outdoor schedule will keep her well trained. She eats twice a day and has no known allergies or medical concerns beyond routine preventatives. Like many pugs, Olive has a few quirks—she may chase her tail for fun and isn’t a fan of nail trims. Shocking, we know. Olive does do well with other pug care like fold care and bathing. She can also be vocal, happily barking at doorbells, passersby, or even the wind, which means a quieter neighborhood would suit her best. Apartment living may not be in the cards for this girl. Olive’s ideal home is one filled with love, playtime, and understanding. She would thrive with an active, attentive family who can give her structure, encouragement, and plenty of opportunities to play and build confidence—especially around other dogs. If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate companion with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Olive might just be the one for you!
