About Ernie
Ernie, once known as Max, is a lovable 8-year-old Pittie/Cattle Dog mix who has quickly become a favorite in his foster home. He was rescued from a dangerous rush hour street and, despite being healthy and microchipped, his former owner did not reclaim him. Ernieās foster quickly realized how special he wasāhe hopped right into the car and didnāt look back, adapting easily to home life. Even as a senior, Ernie still gets excited for walks and playdates but prefers to keep things mellow most of the time. Heās gentle, relaxed, and happily tags along for any adventure, big or small. He shines in social settingsāErnie greets other dogs with a wagging tail and has proven to be a calm, gentle playmate, even letting smaller pups set the rules. He hasnāt lived with cats but has shown friendly curiosity from a distance, indicating heād likely settle in fine with calm, dog-savvy cats. With children, Ernie is calm and affectionate, though kids should be comfortable around larger dogs. Heās fully housetrained and excellent on leash. While the crate isnāt his favorite spot, he settles with a treat or some reassurance and is never destructive when left alone in the house. Ernieās social nature means he wants to be near his people, whether following from room to room or sharing the couch. He fits in almost anywhereāfamilies, singles, older couples, and even first-time dog owners. Ernie may have a few years under his belt, but heās full of loyalty and love, ready for a family to make him part of the pack. Your new best friend is just one click away.
