SATURDAY, MAY 30 from 12-3PM: DOG ADOPTION EVENT at the OLATHE PETSMART at 119th & Strang Line with volunteers from Heart of America Humane Society. We'll have several wonderful dogs there looking for homes! ——————— ASPEN is a gentle, sweet natured boy who's looking for a loving home where he'll feel safe. Aspen is a shy guy and needs help to overcome his fears. We rescued Aspen from a hoarding situation where 30 Lab mixes had been abandoned in a house after the tenants moved out. We don't know how long these poor dogs had been left alone to fend for themselves. We've included one photo showing some of the dogs in the house. You can see more photos posted May 23 on our Friends of KCK Animal Services facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/FriendsofKCKAS/ Aspen has already warmed up to our staff and his tail wags when he sees one of his new human friends-- it is so sweet! He's beginning to explore. He'll need training to learn to walk on a leash, but we know he'll conquer that fear if given time and encouragement. Having another dog in the home would be comforting for Aspen and help him learn to trust by example. We've already witnessed a lot of progress in the short time we've had Aspen, and with time and patience he will be such a great companion and so devoted to his new family. Aspen is 4 years old and he weighs 52 lbs. ADOPTING A DOG Our dogs have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and tested for heartworms (if 7 months or older). If you have a dog or children we ask that you bring them with you to meet our dogs to make sure it is a good match. We are open for meet and greet adoptions at our shelter on weekends. No appointment is necessary for weekend adoptions. Our weekend hours vary and we also have satellite adoption events every weekend.
