Say hello to Dutch — a sweet, soulful 8-year-old, 60 lb. Labrador Retriever/Plott Hound mix who is so ready for his next chapter. Dutch came to us from the Clinton, Missouri Animal Shelter after quite the journey. He was found as a stray in May and tested heartworm positive. Thankfully, he was placed in a temporary foster home where he bravely completed heartworm treatment — a long and uncomfortable process — and we’re happy to report that Dutch is now heartworm negative. When the shelter found itself overcrowded with no room for him to return, Imagine FURever Ranch stepped in to give Dutch the safe landing he deserved. Dutch is a wonderful dog who loves affection and truly just wants to be loved in return. Like many dogs who’ve experienced a lot of change, he’s still adjusting to life at the Ranch. While it’s a caring and enriching environment, it’s not quite the same as having a home of his own, so he’s a bit stressed as he settles in. Dutch would likely thrive in a home that can give him time, patience, and plenty of love as he decompresses and finds his confidence again.
