About Corky
Corky is a five-year-old Chocolate Labrador Retriever who was surrendered when his previous owner’s health made it hard to keep up with him. He thrives near people and would rather be with you in the yard than outside alone. Corky is crate trained, mostly because he’s got a serious nose for snacks and can’t help counter-surfing if unsupervised. He tends to bark if he’s bored or feels ignored, making clear he wants some attention or activity. This gentle soul sleeps beside you at night—often with his head on your leg—and loves snuggling close. He knows basic commands like “Sit,” “Stay,” “Come,” “Paw,” “Down,” and “Wait.” Taking treats is no problem; he’s careful and gentle. At mealtime, he works his brain and body getting kibble from his Tiger Ball, then runs around playing chase with it afterward. Toys, though, don’t mean much to him; he craves companionship more than fetching. Corky gets along with other dogs just fine, doesn’t show food or toy aggression, and is polite at the vet and on leash—even with distractions. He allows handling for ear and dental checks without fuss and is always ready for a cuddle. If someone else is getting attention, Corky’ll wiggle in for his share. He’d be happy in a home with another dog or as the center of attention solo. His friendly, gentle demeanor wins over everyone he meets, and it’s tough not to fall for his big, kind eyes.
