Meet Macey – Macey is a ten-year-old purebred black Labrador retriever. Macey is super sweet and super easy going. She retired as breeder momma a few years ago and is now looking for a soft place to spend her golden years. Macey is not your typical, playful, bone-chewing lab but she will melt your heart as you watch her bloom. She loves to carry around her stuffies and enjoys a slow game of fetch. She gets along with other dogs and has lived with them in the past but she really loves her people. She is content spending time relaxing wherever her people are and going for short walks. Macey also enjoys relaxing outside watching the birds, enjoying the fresh air, and finding all the new sniffs. Macey is crate trained. Recently, in the past couple weeks, she has proven to be reliable on free roam in her foster home even when her foster mom is away at work. While she can navigate the few steps from porches to the yard, Macey has not ventured up a full flight of stairs. However, she’s content to stay downstairs to sleep by herself. She has had interactions with children of all ages and has done well. Though she would appreciate children five and up that can understand and respect the boundaries of a senior dog. Macey is looking for the perfect family that will allow her the space and time to adapt to a new forever home. Macey will flourish with a calm, quiet, and most importantly, patient family. A family that will love her as a senior dog and include her but not push her into an overly active, hectic or busy lifestyle. One that will help her get in the car when needed and not expect her to travel up scary stairs until she’s ready. One that likes to chill while Macey lies nearby with her stuffy or bone. One that will continue to challenge her a little at a time and slowly help her understand how great it is to be a dog. Trust us when we say that this sweet girl will readily share her world with your family if you give her the chance.
