About Poncho
Poncho is a one-year-old, 14lb Chihuahua/Pug mix with a short apricot coat and a squishy pug face—and a tail to match. He lights up any room he enters with his goofy personality and genuine eagerness to make friends. Fresh from a Texas shelter, within days Poncho became a staff favorite and quickly worked his way into everyone's heart. This guy is a riot: constantly mugging for attention, making funny noises, and embarking on wild zoomies that keep people laughing. He’s equally sweet, always ready for a cuddle or a nap in your lap. Poncho’s social streak extends to his fellow canines. He thrives in the company of other playful, friendly dogs, so a home with another gentle pup is ideal. Poncho’s foster reports he’s truly house trained, does well in his crate at night, and cannot get enough of being close to his people—he would gladly claim a spot in your bed if allowed. On walks, he’s eager to greet both people and dogs. One thing to note: Poncho is very curious and tries to bolt out the front door—not out of fear, but adventure. He’ll need an adopter ready to manage this curiosity and prevent door escapes. Off-leash freedom isn’t for him, but making him the center of your activities is. He’s neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. Poncho needs a home ready to provide engagement and positive leadership, and his adopter must be committed to a positive reinforcement training class. If you want a dog that will keep you smiling, this pint-sized clown has a lot of love and laughs to share. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!
