AvailableAbout Aviva
Aviva is a stunning, two-year-old Dachshund/Pointer mix weighing a perfect 22 lbs. She carries herself with a grace that completely defies her difficult beginnings. Rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding situation in Southeast Louisiana, where 36 dogs were found living in a cramped RV, Aviva has proven that her past does not define her. We chose the name Aviva because it means "Spring" or "Springtime," symbolizing renewal and the blossoming of a new life after a long, dark winter. True to her name, her new life blossomed almost immediately-though her journey wasn't without its heartbreak. Aviva arrived into rescue heavily pregnant and gave birth to seven puppies just three days later. Because of the severe lack of nutrition and care in her past, her body was completely depleted. Tragically, three of her babies died due to failure to thrive. Despite her own physical exhaustion and heartbreak, Aviva poured every ounce of strength she had left into her remaining four puppies, proving to be an incredibly attentive, patient, and devoted mother in the safety of her foster home. But today, Momma's duties are officially complete! Her surviving puppies are completely weaned, and Aviva is finally free to focus entirely on herself. She is scheduled to be spayed very soon, ensuring she will never have to endure the physical toll of another litter. Aviva is officially retiring from motherhood and is ready to transition into what she was always meant to be: a cherished, pampered family pet. Despite the trauma of her past and the loss of her puppies, Aviva remains an absolute sweetheart. She has every reason to be wary, yet she chooses nothing but love. She absolutely craves human companionship and will happily soak up all the belly rubs, kisses, and cuddles you can give. Her sweet, gentle disposition shines through in everything she does. She loves deeply. She is heartworm negative, her puppies are weaned, and she will be fully vetted and spayed prior to heading to her new home. Aviva spent the first part of her life surviving, and the second part fighting for her babies. Now, it's her turn to be babied, spoiled, and protected. If you are ready to show this resilient, loving girl what it feels like to be a treasured family member, Aviva is ready to bloom right into your heart!
