Meet Duke Doxie, the most adorable "Low Rider" you'll ever lay eyes on! This handsome fellow is a youthful 13 years young and weighs a sturdy 26 lbs. We suspect he's a charming mix of standard Dachshund with a splash of Chihuahua and maybe a little bit of magic! Don't let his age fool you-Duke is packed with personality and spunk! He may be a little vision and hearing impaired, but that certainly doesn't slow him down. He loves to run and play with his foster siblings, and when he walks, he has the most endearing little hop in his step as he explores the yard. Duke has been through a lot, but his past owner loved him dearly and reached out to Take Paws Rescue when they were no longer physically able to care for him. We knew we had to step in and save this sweet boy from an uncertain fate in an overcrowded shelter. His picture instantly touched our hearts, and we're so glad he's safe and sound! This wonderful senior is up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, neutered, and heartworm negative. We hear he's a true water dog who loves to swim! He is dog and kid-friendly, though he's not a fan of the feline variety. Duke's absolute favorite treasure is his Lambchop stuffy, which he promises to bring with him to his new forever home. Duke's foster mom fell instantly in love, but she knows the best thing for him is a permanent home where he can live out his golden years.
