About Lavender

Lavender's journey has been one of incredible highs and heartbreaking lows. After being rescued from a severe neglect case-where she was found as a stray, emaciated and dragging a tangled blanket-she recently faced another hurdle. Lavender was briefly adopted, only to be returned less than 24 hours later because her adopter wasn't quite ready for the commitment. Through no fault of her own, Lavender is back in search of a "forever" that actually means forever. This 3 to 4-year-old Chihuahua mix is a tiny warrior. Despite being let down by humans in the past, her spirit remains sweet and hopeful. She is up-to-date on vaccines, microchipped, remarkably heartworm negative, and will be spayed soon. In her foster home, she is gaining weight through small, frequent meals and is transforming into a healthy, vibrant girl right before our eyes. Lavender isn't just looking for a perfect home; she's looking for a patient one. She needs a family that understands she won't settle in overnight. She needs more than 24 hours to show you her beautiful personality. A quiet, calm household is where she feels safest. She gets along well with foster siblings but is also perfectly happy being your one-and-only. She is a "best of both worlds" dog-she loves the security of being held in your arms, but she also values her independent "me time" in a cozy bed. Lavender has been through the worst of humanity and still chooses to trust. She is looking for a hero who won't give up when things aren't "instant," but who will cherish the slow, steady magic of a dog learning she is finally safe. Is your heart big enough for a little girl who has been through so much? Lavender is waiting for the person who will promise never to bring her back. For more on this, or for additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets (including an explanation about Benefactor Dogs), please see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as our website, Chewy, Pet Finder, and others. These are in no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed. ***Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters across the South, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures.
