Bully breed mix? Yep. Black fur? Check. Cropped ears and scars that make her look tougher than she actually is? You betcha! Penelope unfortunately hits all the marks for qualities that seem to make dogs "less adoptable." Underneath her rough and tumble appearance is a loving, vibrant, playful, intelligent pup just yearning for acceptance. (We think she's super cute though.) She came to us after she was hit by a car. Defenders stepped in to get her the treatment she needed-- she ended up needing one of her legs amputated, but otherwise fully recovered and gets around just as well, if not better than any other dog in our shelter! Her favorite thing is running around our fenced yard at top speed with a toy in her mouth. Everyone who has met Penny can attest to what an amazing dog she is. She's smart, cuddly, loves to play, does very well with kids, and is crate trained and extremely housebroken. Penelope has shown us that she is comfortable being friendly with dogs at a distance, but would prefer to be the star of your show and the only dog in your household.
