About Dill Pickle

Meet Dill Pickle, a less than one-year-old Corgi/Australian Cattle Dog/Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix with a big personality packed into a perfectly corgi-sized body. Underneath all that charm is a dog who has come an incredibly long way in a very short amount of time. Dill Pickle spent the first part of his life living in a horse stall with his litter, without the socialization and experiences puppies need to confidently learn about the world. When he came into rescue, so much of life was brand new to him. Thankfully, Pickle landed in the care of a professional trainer foster who has helped him start discovering just how good life can be. He’s been learning obedience, crate training, house training, and most importantly, how wonderful affection can be. Once unsure and withdrawn, Dill Pickle has learned that pets, cuddles, kisses, and being close to his people are some of his favorite things in the world. That said, Pickle has still been through a lot in his less than one year of life, and he needs a home that understands that healing and confidence-building take time. He can be shy with new people and needs slow, thoughtful introductions while he learns to feel safe. He bonds quickly and deeply with his person once trust is built, and when he loves you, he really loves you. He’s still looking for a forever home willing to give him the patience, understanding, and continued confidence-building he needs to keep growing into the dog he’s meant to be. He absolutely adores other dogs and would thrive in a home with a canine companion to help continue building his confidence. He does well with cats and has been good with kids, though because of his sensitive nature, respectful introductions and guidance are important. Pickle is playful, goofy, affectionate, and so deserving of a family willing to meet him where he is. He doesn’t need perfection. He just needs patience, kindness, and someone willing to keep showing him that the world can be a safe and loving place.
