AvailableAbout Pearl
At a year old and 12.5lbs, Pearl was sadly returned to us after being adopted at 8 weeks old. Pearl was raised in a home with 3 young children and unfortunately, respectful boundaries were not appropriately set on either end and Pearl started to learn that if the kids did something she didn't want or like, she could growl and snap at them and they would leave her alone. We know Pearl loves kids, but we are recommending that she go to a forever home with no children or older (10/12+) kids who will be less overwhelming and more understanding to Pearl's cues if she becomes nervous or needs space. Outside of that Pearl is an energetic, confident and playful girl! She is gorgeous...and she knows it! Pearl loves her humans and like a typical miniature Poodle, she bonds tightly with her people and becomes a constant shadow. She looks to them for guidance and approval. She is very food motivated and aims to please. She is still a puppy and will need consistent boundaries set in her new home. Her natural confidence is amazing, but she will quickly rule the roost if not given structure and expectations. She will need physical and mental enrichment to keep her thriving! She is fantastic on a leash and loves to go on walks! She is wonderfully crate and potty trained. Pearl does very well with cats. If it is an outgoing kitty, she will do her best to make friends and play with them. She also has been in a foster home with dogs of all sizes and ages. Pearl thrives with dogs around her size or smaller, who love to play chase and wrestle! She does like to be more of the leader in play so will be most successful with a pup who's cool with whatever! Pearl has some insecurities with large dogs and likely has not interacted with many. She is a bit awkward with them socially and will bark initially out of uncertainty. She will attempt to play with them if they try to engage but can get quickly overwhelmed. She will do best with patient larger dogs who don't mind helping her figure that out or will pay her little mind when she tries to boss them around. We sometimes call that "small dog syndrome." ;-) Pearl will also do well as a single dog, as long as she has an active family who understands that small doesn't mean lap dog. Though our girl is a great cuddler! Pearl's adoption fee includes her spay, microchip, heartworm/tick borne illness testing, vaccines, dewormings and flea/tick/heartworm prevention. If this little lady sounds like she could be your perfect Pearl, reach out to us or fill out an adoption application!
