About Bizzie
Bizzie lives up to her name—she is always on the move and truly comes alive when she has a job to do outside. For her first eight years, she lived at a hunting ranch in an outdoor kennel, often raising puppies and occasionally hunting, but her true talents (and need for stimulation) were misunderstood. Now in a foster home in the Texas Hill Country, Bizzie spends hours exploring and patrolling a large fenced yard—a setup that suits her perfectly. She needs a committed person with a very secure, interesting yard, or a highly active lifestyle where she can exercise those field instincts regularly. Endless heat or snowed-in winters don’t faze her much, but her preference is for environments where she can get outside and explore daily, regardless of the weather. Socially, Bizzie is bossy but adaptable—she learns to respect her fellow canine and feline housemates, so long as her boundaries are clear. She steers clear of the resident queen cat and has learned the house princess dog’s routines, but she’s happy being the "worker" in the pack. Bizzie isn’t drawn to children; she’s more comfortable avoiding the noise and unpredictability. That said, she’s surprised by the pleasure of affection and attention—a new experience for her—and is enjoying the discovery. High-energy dogs like Bizzie need thoughtful containment and structure. She benefited from a "donut" collar at first to keep her from squeezing past fencing and now requires secure boundaries and supervision, plus a person who can keep up with her physical and mental needs. She is crate-trained, house trained, incredibly smart, and takes direction well. Her docked tail is a badge of her enthusiasm, wagging furiously when she’s on the move. Bizzie is the kind of once-in-a-lifetime sporting companion only an experienced, attentive adopter can handle. She’s ready for real partnership—one that matches her drive and confidence.
