Mya is a young English Setter with a freckled face and an abundance of energy. Rejected as a hunting dog, she left a South Texas shelter behind and quickly adapted to her foster home in Boerne, TX. In just three days, she bonded with both humans and other animals. She clocks upwards of 45,000 steps daily and has the classic field Setter drive, so a secure, stimulating yard is a must. Mya has a soft, gentle demeanor and responds best to kindness and patience—she’s most at ease when treated without harshness. With time, her playful spirit comes out and she’ll fill your home with puppy-like antics. Mya thrives with other dogs and needs an energetic, social canine companion. She’s interested in cats, especially ones that hold their ground indoors. She’s quiet indoors but will alert-bark outside, though she’s learning to respond to gentle corrections. Mya is not fully house trained yet but is progressing well with structure and crate time. She sleeps peacefully in her crate and does fine left for a few hours with other dogs present. Her treat motivation and eagerness to please make her easy to train. The right adoptive home for Mya is active, patient, and has dog-savvy kids over nine. She isn’t for homes with small children or those lacking fence security. If you have some experience with dogs, she’d be a rewarding first English Setter.
