About Da’ithi

Start your journey together! Apply now. Da’ithi (pronounced Da-hee) is a Gaelic name meaning swiftness and nimbleness—and it suits him wonderfully. At just one year old, Da’ithi is brimming with playful energy and curiosity, always ready for action but able to settle in for a cozy rest after a fun session. He came from a situation where he lived outdoors with many dogs, so he’s learning all about the comforts of home life and is a blank canvas with so much promise. Da’ithi loves to learn—his foster has already taught him sit, wait for meals, and kennel! He’s making great progress with leash walking, adores his toys, and is crate trained as long as he has someone nearby. At night, Da’ithi sleeps quietly in his crate if it’s in the same room as you, but if left alone, he may howl for about 20 minutes before calming down, making him best suited to detached homes and for people who are home often. Well-socialized with adults and playful with other dogs, Da’ithi would thrive with another playful canine friend. He enjoys companionship and likes to stay close to his person, showcasing strong herding instincts and a bright, attentive mind. Because he doesn’t yet have reliable recall and likes to chase small animals, leash walks in unfenced areas are a must. If you’re active, looking for an athletic and trainable young companion, and able to have dogs with you much of the time or work from home, Da’ithi could be just the fit. He hasn’t been exposed to cats or children yet, so slow introductions may be needed for households with either. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?

Questions about Da’ithi

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Border Collies thrive in active households, especially those with plenty of space and opportunity for exercise. They do well in homes with access to secure yards and enjoy environments where they can stay mentally and physically engaged.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

This breed needs a generous amount of outdoor space, ideally a fenced yard, to run and play. Daily exercise and opportunities for off-leash time in safe areas are highly beneficial.
