About Fergal

Start your journey together! Apply now. Fergal’s name means “brave man” in Irish, which perfectly matches his strength and courage. Despite coming from a large group home, Fergal quickly showed what a loving and well-adjusted companion he is. This young, bicolor Border Collie is about two years old and impresses everyone with his trusting and affectionate personality. From the start, Fergal’s foster family could bathe, brush, and handle him with zero fuss—he’s always eager for attention and comfort from people. He loves toys and canine friends, but his favorite activity is cuddling up with his people and soaking up all the love he can get. He’s at ease meeting new folks, joining workdays with his foster mom, and greeting everyone with endless enthusiasm—his gentle and kind nature would suit someone looking for an affectionate sidekick or even a budding therapy dog. Fergal is adaptable, travels well, and thrives on adventure: hikes, jogs, and creek explorations are a few of his favorite things. He'll need at least an hour of daily vigorous activity to be at his best. Fergal is also talented—he can jump out of indoor pens and might be a fun agility project. He should be watched in fenced areas, though, since he can leap and has a prey drive for small critters when off leash. Fergal is friendly with other dogs and loves to play, making him a star candidate for multi-dog homes but is also happy being the center of attention. He’s crate trained, finds comfort sleeping in his crate, and is reliably house trained. His signature quirk is hugging his water bowl—he will sleep by it and rest his paw in it while drinking, which only adds to his charm. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
