About Arlo In Ky

If you believe the very best Great Pyrenees are the ones who’ve outgrown the puppy chaos and settled into their guardian hearts, Arlo may be the boy you’ve been waiting for! Arlo has a soft, soulful presence that instantly puts you at ease. Though he’s still filling out after a rough start (he was founds as a stray in Kentucky), and currently weighs 78 lbs (about 20 lbs underweight), his beautiful long coat will truly shine once it’s fully grown back. If you are looking for a calm, low-maintenance companion, look no further as Arlo is the total package—house-broken, respectful in the home, and comfortable either in his crate or stretched out in a comfy place by your feet. He would love a 5-foot fenced yard to patrol and lay in the sun. He will happily stand at the gate, hoping you might suggest a walk—he will be an excellent match for someone who wants a relaxed walking partner. Car rides? Yes, please! Arlo hops right in, clearly thrilled to be included in the adventure ahead. While he hasn’t lived with children, his friendly, easygoing nature suggests he’d likely do well with respectful kids. Arlo, in spite of having burrs, mats and long nails, was a groomer’s dream, patiently enjoying the full spa treatment like a true gentleman. Arlo is a social butterfly in a soft‑spoken way. He enjoys meeting other dogs, gets along with both males and females, and even invites play with the classic Pyr play bow. He is even calm and gentle with cats. Arlo doesn’t need acres or chaos. What he needs is connection. He would thrive as an only dog or with a canine companion, and would be happy sharing space with a cat or two. More than anything, Arlo wants a home where he gets plenty of attention and affection, because that’s what makes him feel safe and loved. This is a Pyr who doesn’t demand—he offers. Loyalty. Calm companionship. A steady presence at your side. If your heart is open to an adult Great Pyrenees who already knows how to be a wonderful dog, Arlo is ready to be your forever Pyr! Please fill out the application on our website and we will contact you. HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTION-APPLICATION/ Due to the high level of interest we can't respond to emails unless an application has been submitted. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed.
