AvailableAbout Grable
9-year-old Grable spent her early years on a property in Ramona, living with many other dogs in the backyard. When her owner needed help rehoming some of them, we welcomed Grable and two other dogs into the Frosted Faces family in April 2025. Grable was understandably very scared after having her world turned upside down. She had never left the property previously or been around any humans other than her owner. Slowly but surely, Grable has learned that she can trust her human caregivers. Being petted, being brushed, and hanging out with other dogs are all things she enjoys. We are so proud of the progress this sweet, gentle soul has made! Since mid-March 2026, Grable has been living with one of our longtime, trusted foster families, where she can continue her journey in a safe and supportive home environment. Her foster mom shared this update: "Grable has started to approach my husband and I now that she is more familiar with us. She even climbs on our bed in the morning to say hello! It has been fun to see her open up. Grable has been great with all of our animals. She really likes other dogs and frequently initiates play with our dog Ancho. I think another calm and confident dog in her forever home would be immensely helpful for her. One of our cats swats at her often, but Grable has never reacted to this. Grable is a great eater and runs right to her kennel at meal time! She doesn't like to be watched while she eats, but as soon as I leave the room I can hear her chowing down. When I check on her 10 min later she is finished. She's never met a chew or treat she doesn't like. Grable is still getting used to us so we haven't tried walking her on leash yet. She probably can walk for a few miles, but she is so nervous about the whole world, I don't think she would enjoy a walk. Grable is absolutely a flight risk, so we are very, very careful in making sure she is secure when we open doors to unsecured areas. We have given her a safe space in our house, so now if she is startled in the back yard, she will run into the house to her crate instead of trying to climb the fence, so this may get better with time. Grable is crated when we are not home, and we leave a TV on in another room for background noise. One time she pulled in a towel and shredded it, but usually she is laying on her bed when we return home. We often leave a safe chew with her when we leave so she associates it with treat time." Stay tuned for future updates on Grable's progress in her wonderful foster home! Please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org with questions about Grable.
