About Dixie In Co

The adoption process starts with an Online Adoption Application you can find at 'https://www.adoptaboston.com/adoption-application. Phone interviews do not take place til after an approved application is on file and we have a possible match for your home My name is Dixie. I am 5 years old (DOB: 2/14/2022). I weigh 28 lbs. I could probably stand to lose a couple of pounds. I need a new home as my owner was no longer able to care for me. I am being fostered in Longmont, CO. I love to be around my humans. I love seeing them enter the room and I try to jump up on them. Sometimes I will ‘mouth’ their hands, but I’m not trying to bite them. I’m just really, really excited! My foster parents are working with me to try to get me to stop jumping. I’m a good listener. I get along with my foster siblings. I have a brother and a sister, and we all get along great. I’m not really into play though. My foster mom thinks I wasn’t around other dogs much because their play confuses me. My foster parents think that I will come out of my shell more and more because they are seeing my growth. I am a little skittish. Loud sounds and sudden movements cause me to pancake in my spot. I am getting more relaxed though. My foster mom thinks I probably wasn’t socialized much so I am learning how to dog and to play without aggression. I am getting more excited about playing every day. I need a family that is patient with me. Here's a little more about me: Housetrained? Yes Leash-trained? Yes Rides well in car? Yes, but pants the whole time. Good with other dogs? Yes Good with cats? Not yet tested Good with young children? Yes, she has been good with the 6-year-old that we’ve had her around. Shy or confident? Shy at first Apartment qualified? Yes, if she’s taken out to potty on a regular basis. Any Special needs or Health Issues? She arrived with a lump on her left hind leg. It has been removed. She is currently on pain meds for a week. Her stitches will need to come out on 5/1/26. Adoption Fee? $ 375 Additional Comments: We were told that Dixie was in diapers for an extended time. We only had her in a diaper the first day as we had to her determine if she was potty trained. We are happy to say she hasn’t had one accident in the house. The adoption process starts with an Online Adoption Application you can find at ''https://www.adoptaboston.com/adoption-application. All our dogs are spayed/neutered (if six months and older), up to date on rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, and microchipped. Other medical needs diagnosed while in foster care are also treated prior to adoption. MABTR requires a fenced in area from families who own their home, however we DO adopt to apartment complexes and communities where fences are not permitted due to leases and covenants. In these cases a leash law must be enforced. We do not accept invisible fencing. MABTR only adopts to families residing in NE, CO, MO, KS, IA, WY, SD, ND, ID, UT, MT, MN, and NW AR due to the lack of volunteer support in other states, no exception even if you are willing to drive.
