Meet Cocoa, an incredibly sweet, gentle soul who is ready for a second chance at the loving home she deserves. Originally adopted from a shelter in AL, she was sadly surrendered due to a change in her family's lifestyle--not because of anything she did wrong. However, they were told if she was returned to the shelter, her time could have been up soon due to overcrowding, but thankfully she is now safe in a foster home while she waits for her forever family. This docile girl has a loving nature and is super smart; picks up on commands easily and is treat and praise motivated. She can be quite shy when first meeting new people (esp men). But she just really wants to feel safe with them--once she does, her affectionate nature shines through and she bonds deeply. Cocoa does prefer a quieter type environment, as loud voices and busy crowds can make her feel uneasy. Cocoa is wonderful with other dogs and would thrive in a home with a canine companion. She may bark when she first sees other dogs, but it's simply her way of asking them to be her friend. She so enjoys her occasional doggie daycare dates. Check her out playing with her foster sibling: https://youtube.com/shorts/uhFluMgzyCM She has also lived with cats and does well with them, often relaxing nearby, though she may occasionally try to engage them in play. Cocoa is crate trained and happily settles in her crate at night or as you can see, when told to: https://youtube.com/shorts/RVo-gXIlkCI She is also housetrained and thrives on a consistent routine. She's still working on letting her people know when she needs to go out, so keeping her on a regular schedule helps set her up for success. A home with a fully fenced yard would be ideal for Cocoa, giving her a safe place to explore, play, and relax. She does have a curious side and can be a bit of an escape artist, so a secure space will help keep her safe while she enjoys her independence. She enjoys going for walks and rides nicely in the car--just skip meals right before travel to prevent car sickness. While she walks well on leash, she can pull a bit when she sees something that interests her. Cocoa is a loving, easygoing companion who just needs a patient and understanding home to help her feel secure and loved. In return, she'll offer unwavering loyalty, quiet companionship, and a heart full of adoration. Name: Cocoa Breed: Lab Crossbreed (Breed mix is not guaranteed-no DNA testing done).
