About Cocoa Local In
Cocoa is a gentle, sensitive dog who’s looking for a patient home after her last family had to give her up. She’s sweet-natured and picks up on commands quickly—very motivated by treats and praise. At first, Cocoa can be shy with new people, especially men, but given time and gentle handling, her affectionate side shines through. She deeply bonds with those she trusts and prefers quieter environments; loud sounds and too much commotion can overwhelm her. Cocoa is great with other dogs and enjoys having a canine companion. She might bark when she sees new dogs—she just wants to say hello. Playdates and even doggie daycare are highlights for her. She’s also lived with cats and typically coexists peacefully, though she does try to engage them sometimes. Cocoa is crate trained and does well on a consistent routine. She’s house trained, though she still benefits from a regular schedule to help her signal when she needs to go outside. A fully fenced yard would be best due to her clever, curious nature—she’s got some escape artist tendencies. Walks are a treat for her, and she rides well in the car as long as she hasn’t just eaten. On leash, she does nicely but may pull if something catches her interest. Cocoa’s looking for a calm, understanding home—preferably with older children (over 12) and at least one dog companion—where she can feel safe and loved. With patience and kindness, you’ll have her trust, loyalty, and affection for life. Cocoa is currently in Princeton, MA. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
