About Georgia

Georgia comes from a Reservation, where she was an outdoor dog that never had a family to take care of her – she was on her own, and became a loner. She has acclimated well to becoming an indoor pet and is ready to find a loving home of her own. Georgia is a 4 yr old female yellow lab mix that weighs 40#. She is housebroken, and can be crated 4-6 hours when left (or she might get into things or chew inappropriately) , which isn’t very frequent because her foster mom works from home. Not a barker, but might cry a little when kenneled. Her foster mom said Georgia wouldn’t do well crated 8 plus hours if someone worked full time outside of the home. She likes chewing on rawhides, and is learning to play with dog toys. At night, she sleeps in the foster’s bedroom, on a blanket or on the floor. She loves her foster family, but doesn’t socialize much with people that come over to visit - is getting better at interacting with them. Likewise, doesn’t show much interest in other dogs – she goes to the dog park with the resident dogs, but runs around by herself the whole time (she is both agile and fast); she does keep her person in her sight. Has been respectful of the resident cat. Georgia would do best if her new home had a fenced yard for her to run around in. She is a high energy girl, and needs an active person (like a jogger) or someone that will take her to the dog park to provide adequate exercise. Having someone home much of the time is also a big plus, so she gets lots of attention. She hasn’t interacted with children, so don’t know how she would be. Georgia knows her name, and is learning to come when called and to “sit” on command. Likes men and women equally, and is excited to see you if you’ve been gone. Sits close to her person for attention, and will give you her paw to encourage you to pet her. If she knows you, she might even jump on you to greet you. Georgia gets anxious riding in the car…..even if it’s just to the dog park. Thankfully, doesn’t get car sick. She is tethered inside the vehicle, and hasn’t been kenneled inside the vehicle to know how she would do during the ride. Georgia has been spayed, and is current on distemper and rabies vaccinations. Her 4 DX is negative, and her microchip is registered to Second Chance. If you would like to meet her, please call 651-771-5662. Her adoption fee is $300.
