About Marvin

📌 Important Information • All dogs are currently in foster care in Mexico 🇲🇽. They're listed in Oregon for adoption purposes as that's where our rescue is based. • Dogs fly to Portland (PDX) once adoption is approved, arriving within 2–4 weeks. ✈️ This reduces stress for them and ensures safe travel. 💛 About The Meximutt Project (A Born Again Pit Bull Rescue initiative) Over 18 million dogs live on Mexico’s streets. Our rescue works at the source through spay/neuter programs, rescue, and adoption into loving homes. Since 2019: 🐶 500+ dogs adopted • ✂️ 3,500+ dogs spayed/neutered 👉 Interested in adopting? PLEASE FILL OUT APPLICATION AT www.bapbr.org ⚠️ We’re unable to respond to requests that come through Petfinder ************************** 🐾 Meet MARVIN 🐾 • AGE: ~2 years old • WEIGHT: ~18 lbs • BREED(S): Shih Tzu mix (our best guess since they’re rescues!) • GOOD WITH KIDS? Yes, as long as they're taught to respect the dog’s belongings and boundaries. • HOUSEBROKEN? Not 100% yet. As rescues that lived on the street or tile/outdoor surfaces, they'll need some time to adjust. Most of our dogs adapt within 1-2 weeks of consistent training. A car hit Marvin hard—this small, gentle boy with a fluffy coat was struck hard enough to fracture his hip, hard enough to steal his breath and fill his days with pain. Someone brought him to the vet and then disappeared, leaving him in the hands of strangers. He was injured, alone, and had no one to advocate for his healing. Susana took him in knowing that recovery would be slow. Those first days with Marvin were quiet ones. He was in pain, scared, and needed nothing more than rest and gentleness. She let him heal at his own pace, asking nothing of him but to recover. Then, slowly, the pain lifted. Marvin's shoulders relaxed. His eyes softened. And something shifted—not dramatically, but genuinely. He stopped bracing for hurt and started believing that maybe he could trust again. "The pain is gone now, and he's so much happier and more confident," Susana says, watching him settle peacefully into her home. Marvin isn't flashy. He's quiet—deeply, contentedly quiet. He doesn't demand attention or want to play hard. He's the kind of dog who loves being near his person without needing constant interaction. He loves kisses and affection, gets along beautifully with other dogs and cats, and is completely trustworthy and kind. He just prefers not to be alone for long stretches, wanting to know that someone is nearby. As he continues healing, Marvin may become slightly more playful, but he'll always be on the calm side of things—and that's exactly who he is. He's not looking for adventure or excitement. He's looking for peace, for quiet companionship, for someone who understands that the greatest gift after trauma is simply consistency. Marvin was hit by bad luck and bad timing, but he survived. Now he's healing—not just his body, but his spirit. He needs a patient home, a calm person who understands that sometimes the sweetest companions are the ones who ask for very little and give everything they have. Are you ready to be that quiet refuge for him? ************************* 📝 Ready to apply?
