Yes, as long as they're taught to respect the dog’s belongings and boundaries. • HOUSEBROKEN? Not 100% yet. As rescues that lived on the street or tile/outdoor surfaces, they'll need some time to adjust. Most of our dogs adapt within 1-2 weeks of consistent training. When we found him, he was wandering the streets hungry, covered in fleas, and small enough to fit in one hand. Nobody knows how an adorable pup like Chappy ended up out there — only that he did, and that he needed help. His foster Romina scooped him up, cleaned him off, and braced for the usual adjustment period. It never really came. Within minutes of arriving, Chappy had assessed the situation, decided everyone was fine, and gotten on with the business of being wonderful. And Romina would know — she's fostered hundreds of dogs. "Once in a blue moon one comes through where I think: you are literal perfection," she says. "Chappy is that dog." It's hard to argue with her. He doesn't bark. He loves walks, handles car rides without complaint, and moves through the world — other dogs, cats, strangers, chaos — with a calm, cheerful confidence that most dogs take years to develop, if ever. He's affectionate without being clingy, loving without being overwhelming, and has no separation anxiety or destructive habits. He sleeps in bed, plays when invited, and settles quietly when the moment calls for it. We really try not to play favorites — but Chappy makes it very hard. Whoever adopts him is, in his foster Romina's words, "winning the doggie lottery." She's not wrong. Some dogs need a lot of work to become the companion you hoped for.
