About Gabriel
Gabriel’s story starts on the median of a busy highway in Guadalajara, where he spent two days on his own, no food or water, watching the world rush by. He was rescued thanks to the persistence and quick thinking of a volunteer who went back for him, drawn in by his determination to survive. Once safely indoors, Gabriel melted into a trusting, affectionate companion almost overnight. He is a small, pug mix who moves easily between curling up beside you and quietly following you from room to room. He’s house-trained now, calm inside, and gets along with other dogs, cats, and respectful children. Early on, he struggled with separation anxiety but has since learned that people do return and his world is safe. He doesn’t destroy things or cry—he’ll just greet you like you’re the best thing that ever happened to him. Walks are a highlight, but Gabriel mostly wants to be wherever you are. With his endearing overbite and wrinkled face, he gives off a friendly presence. He craves connection but never smothers; gentle, grateful, and always close by. Gabriel is currently in foster care in Mexico, and once his adoption is approved, he’ll fly to you in Portland. He’s ready to trade waiting for belonging. Ready to meet your new best friend?
