About Eden
📌 Important Information • All dogs are currently in foster care in Mexico 🇲🇽. They're listed in Oregon for adoption purposes as that's where our rescue is based. • Dogs fly to Portland (PDX) once adoption is approved, arriving within 2–4 weeks. ✈️ This reduces stress for them and ensures safe travel. 💛 About The Meximutt Project (A Born Again Pit Bull Rescue initiative) Over 18 million dogs live on Mexico’s streets. Our rescue works at the source through spay/neuter programs, rescue, and adoption into loving homes. Since 2019: 🐶 500+ dogs adopted • ✂️ 3,500+ dogs spayed/neutered 👉 Interested in adopting? PLEASE FILL OUT APPLICATION AT www.bapbr.org ⚠️ We’re unable to respond to requests that come through Petfinder ************************** 🐾 Meet EDEN 🐾 • AGE: ~2 years old • WEIGHT: ~8 lbs • BREED(S): Chihuahua mix (our best guess since they’re rescues!) • GOOD WITH KIDS? Yes, as long as they're taught to respect the dog’s belongings and boundaries. • HOUSEBROKEN? Not 100% yet. As rescues that lived on the street or tile/outdoor surfaces, they'll need some time to adjust. Most of our dogs adapt within 1-2 weeks of consistent training. Eden was found with her companion among piles of garbage—literally surrounded by trash bags as if someone had decided this fragile, white and tan little girl wasn't worth keeping. She was emaciated, fevered with infection, and her body was shutting down. She'd learned the hardest lesson a creature can learn: that she didn't matter enough to save. Susana brought her home and watched a heartbroken, skeletal dog try to process being alive. Eden was recovering from pyometra and severe infection. Her body was weak, her spirit was fragile, and every day felt like a small miracle when she made it through. But something in Eden wanted to live. Maybe it was Susana's quiet presence, or the fact that someone was finally—finally—choosing to care. Slowly, almost shyly, she began to open her eyes differently. One day she moved her tail. Then she stood on her back legs, placing tiny paws on Susana's chest, asking to be held—really held, like she mattered. Then she gave her first kisses, tentative and careful, as if she couldn't quite believe this was real. "She's doing so much better," Susana says, watching Eden seek out affection now instead of just accepting it. "She wants to be with me all the time." Eden is still recovering, still learning what it means to be safe. She's quiet and gentle, not yet ready for rough play or chaos. She gets along beautifully with other dogs and cats—her heart is too soft for anything but kindness. What she needs, most of all, is someone nearby. Alone time terrifies her because alone is when she was thrown away. But with someone there, telling her through consistency and presence that she's keeping, she's healing. This is a girl who was garbage to someone. What she needs now is to understand—really understand, through days and months of being chosen—that she was always worth saving. That her smallness doesn't make her invisible. That being loved is possible even after you've known the opposite. Eden's story could have ended in that pile of trash. Instead, she's learning the greatest lesson: that someone can come back for you. That you can matter. That love, when it finally finds you, feels like home. Are you ready to be that home for her? ************************* 📝 Ready to apply?
