About Zander
Zander is a scrappy, alert-eared Miniature Pinscher and Chihuahua mix found roaming near Lake Chapala. At around five years old, he came into care wary of people, especially skittish with human touch. Over just a month, he's transformed—now trailing after his foster dad, soaking up hugs and head scratches, building trust day by day. He has not shown aggression, even at his most nervous, but still prefers calm adults; he'll coexist peacefully with children but is not looking for a rowdy home. Zander lives well among other dogs and cats, never provoking or chasing, just sharing space quietly. His curiosity shines—he spends hours watching the world through the fence and loves his walks, especially in grassy hills where he can wander and explore new things. He behaves beautifully on a leash and does not try to escape. Though not fully housebroken, Zander learns quickly and only needs time and patience to adapt to new routines. He's seeking a home that understands his journey, preferably with a secure yard and maybe a calm dog companion. Someone willing to let him settle in, embrace his quirks, and watch him continue his remarkable transformation. Zander is ready for his next adventure and a family who sees the good dog he is and the even better one he's becoming. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
