Roy is a large, long-coated Clumber Spaniel with white, cream, and red coloring. He is an adult, neutered male who is newly vaccinated and came to rescue in Wedgefield, SC. Roy is not yet house trained and needs an experienced adopter who understands the needs of undersocialized dogs.

About Roy

Roy is a Clumber Spaniel with a big frame and an even bigger heart who’s learning how to be a companion after years spent in a kennel. He came in as a breeder surrender, heavily matted and in some pain, which led him to act wary and hesitant about being handled at first. After getting cleaned up, treated for a severe ear infection, and neutered, Roy has started to relax and discover the comfort of human company. He’s cautious, sweet, and slowly figuring out what trust feels like. Roy is still new to the rhythms of home life and will need an adopter with experience helping undersocialized dogs. He’s not a dog for homes with young children, and we don’t yet know how he’ll do with cats. Roy does fine with other dogs in a managed environment but doesn’t seem fixated on canine company. He’s currently working on leash skills and crate training, and will benefit from patient, ongoing support as he adjusts. He rides well in the car and is making progress every day. If you’re ready to give Roy the calm, knowledgeable home he needs to continue building confidence and enjoying family life, he’s waiting for you in Wedgefield, SC. Ready to meet your new best friend?
