About Oona

Oona is a 4-year-old, approximately 100-pound spayed female. She was surrendered due to a divorce and the impending sale of her home. Oona has a naturally short bobtail caused by a birth defect, but she is otherwise healthy. The upside is that her tail won’t be clearing off your coffee table. Oona did not receive consistent boundaries from her original owner and had a couple of negative dog park experiences, which led to some reactivity toward certain dogs—particularly along fences or when on leash. For the past five weeks, she has been working with our behaviorist, Serena, at the Academy of Canine Behavior in Bothell, Washington. Serena reports that Oona has made excellent progress and is now much more likely to look to her human handlers for direction rather than reacting. Oona is described as wonderful with people of all ages and selectively good with dogs she knows. She also has fairly high energy and would likely enjoy activities such as obedience, draft work, and swimming. While Oona waits for her ideal home, the Academy will gradually integrate her into their onsite daycare group to further evaluate her preferences around other dogs. Her adoptive family will receive free lifetime support from the Academy of Canine Behavior, including follow-up classes, help addressing any new issues that arise, and ongoing guidance.
