About Leonard
Leonard is a 2-year-old neutered male Heeler and Hound mix with striking red merle coloring and lovely speckling, giving him a unique look. He came from a crowded environment with minimal positive human experience, so he is still discovering how to trust people and gain confidence. Leonard has made progress but will need a patient, understanding adopter willing to continue this journey with him at his own pace. He will do best in a stable, quiet home without young children. This kind of environment helps him feel secure while working through his shyness. Leonard is motivated by treats and responds well to positive reinforcement, making him a great candidate for further training. He’s still learning how to walk confidently on a leash and will need someone invested in helping him with that. When meeting other dogs on leash, Leonard does well with gentle, respectful companions, though he can be selective and show barrier reactivity—any dog in the home will need to meet him to ensure a good fit. Leonard needs a secure yard where he can safely stretch out, explore, and gradually grow into the loyal companion he wants to be. Give him patience and consistency and he’ll reward you with a deep bond. Click apply to start the adoption process.
