About Trenton
Trenton is a 2-year-old neutered male Heeler/Hound mix with striking red and white merle markings and eye-catching speckling. He stands out just as much for his personality as his looks. Trenton's early life was spent among many dogs, with little human contact, which means he's still learning how to trust and find confidence around people. He's already come a long way but needs a patient, understanding family to support him as he continues to open up. A calm, predictable home without young children is the safest landing for Trenton, giving him space to learn that the world doesn't have to be intimidating. Over time, with gentle encouragement and consistency, he's likely to develop a deep, loyal connection with his people. Food is a great motivator for Trenton, making positive reinforcement training especially effective. He's working on learning the leash and looks for someone dedicated to guiding him through the basics. Trenton has done fairly well with other polite dogs when meeting on leash, but he can show barrier reactivity and selective interest, so any canine introductions at home should be matched carefully—meet-and-greets are a must. He'll do best in a house with a secure yard where he can safely explore and build confidence at his own pace. With the right mix of patience and encouragement, Trenton has every chance of transforming into a steadfast companion. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
